Rainbow Channel Challenge

Swim and Paddle Competition

In Lakes Bay at the Yacht Club of Pleasantville, NJ

All proceeds will benefit The Field of Dreams and the Donny Fund for catastrophically ill and/or challenged children in South Jersey.

 

Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes 30 minutes before each event.

The entry fee entitles each participant to snacks as well as a logo item.

ALL kayakers must wear life vests and swimmers are invited to bring their own swim caps.                                          

Rainbow Challenge logo items will be for sale at the Yacht Club of Pleasantville

Rest rooms, outdoor shower and free parking are available at race site.

Race Information and entry forms will be available at www.sjfieldofdreams.com and race results will be posted on the website the day after the event.

 

EVENT NO. 1 – 1/4 MILE KIDS SWIM. Start at 9:00 a.m. Awards will be presented to the first 3 male and 3 female finishers overall and three deep for ages 6 thru 8, 9 thru 11, and 12 thru 14 only. Entry fee is $20 and includes a logo item. Parents or guardians may swim alongside their child. Volunteers will monitor the swimmers in kayaks, boats and on surfboards.

 

EVENT NO. 2 – 2 MILE KAYAK, PADDLE BOARD and SURF BOARD EVENT Start at 9:45 a.m. Course is along the scenic shores of Lakes Bay. Awards will be presented to the first 3 males in kayaks >13 ft., first 3 females in kayaks >13 ft., first 3 males in kayaks <13 ft., first 3 females in kayaks <13 ft., and the first three tandem kayakers. The first three male and the first three female paddle boarders will receive awards. Surf boat awards will be awarded to the first three finishers.  Entry fee for a single paddler is $25, and for tandem paddlers/rowers $35.

 

EVENT NO. 3 – 1 MILE SWIM Start at 10:00 a.m. Course is along the scenic shores of Lakes Bay. Awards will be given to the first 3 male and 3 female finishers overall, and 3 deep for 12 and under, 13 thru 15, 16 thru 19, and 5 year groupings thereafter to 70 and older. Wet suits are permitted and will be given a delayed start of 60 seconds to make the results more equitable. Entry fee is $30.

 

EVENT NO. 4 – 2 MILE SWIM Start at 10:00 a.m. Course is along the scenic shores of Lakes Bay. Awards will be presented to the top 3 male and 3 female finishers and awards given to the first 3 males and 3 females in 5 year age groupings 19 and under, 20 to 24, 25 to 29. etc. to 70 and older. Wet suits are encouraged and wearers will be given a delayed start of 3 minutes to make the results more equitable. Entry fee is $30.

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS

FROM THE NORTH – Take the Garden Sate Parkway south to Exit 37 Washington Ave. At the light, turn left onto Washington Ave, go under Garden State Parkway.  At next light, turn Right (Fire Rd.).  At next light (Rt. 40) turn Left (towards Atlantic City—East) and go approximately 3 miles to the Dunkin Donuts, just past St. Peter’s Church.  Turn Right onto Main Street at the Dunkin Donuts and go 4 blocks to Bayview Ave (Cedar Market) and go east (left) to the Bay.

FROM THE SOUTH - Take the Garden State Parkway north to Exit 36 N.  Turn left onto Fire Road and go to the 3rd traffic light (Rt. 40).  Turn Right (towards Atlantic City-East) and follow the directions on Rt.40 in the section FROM THE NORTH.

FROM THE WEST - Take Atlantic City Expressway to Exit 7 S (Garden State Parkway –South) and follow the directions in the section FROM THE NORTH.  Alternate route:  Take Route 40 (Black Horse Pike) east to Pleasantville.  Turn right onto S. Main St. on the right.
